Kuopio Parish Union
Kuopio Parish Union consists of the six Evangelical Lutheran parishes.
Every month we hold an International Worship Service entirely in English for all who would like to take part in Christian worship in English. You are all warmly welcome to come along!
The services will be held in the Kuopio Cathedral, Vuorikatu. Just come on through!
These services and other meetings are organised approximately every month throughout the year by the Kuopio Evangelical Lutheran churches in cooperation with the Anglican Church in Finland, and are open to all interested people. After the service there will be coffee and tea and other refreshments available so that we can get to know each other.

The Cathedral of Kuopio
Welcome to Kuopio Cathedral.
The cathedral was consecrated on the 7th of April 1816, so the 200 th anniversary celebrated in 2016. The church was renovated in 2015.
The church is in neo-classic style, although some imperial features can be seen in the decorations around the pulpit and the altar. The architecture is characterised by clear forms, simplicity and a minimum of decoration. The altar was situated to the west because it was decided to have the main entrance facing, what was in those days the centre of Kuopio, the old market place. The paintings of the evangelists at the back of the church are the work of Urho Lehtinen.
The message of the seal of the Cathedral Parish of Kuopio (Hebr. 13:8) is ”Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and eternally”. May this message go with you.
